DTI Data Recovery is happy to announce a new full version FREEWARE data recovery software for RAID 1 users. If you are using a RAID 1 which is a mirrored set of hard drives, and the RAID no longer boots, than we can help. More home users are getting their computers with RAID hard drives installed, even though a mirror is the best RAID for a home computer, hard drives do fail.

When on of the two hard drives within a RAID 1 fails, sometimes the system is unable to read the partition. This is especially true if the disk 0 hard drive containing a RAID 1 fails. Most of the time the system will still boot, but if it doesn’t then you can no longer access your data! For this reason DTI Data Recovery has created a FREEWARE RAID data recovery software that will allow users to take either of the broken RAID 1 hard drives and mount it as a single drive. Once the RAID 1 hard drive has been converted to a single drive, your system will be able to read and copy your data off of the damaged RAID 1.

    I had a WD MyBook failure. It contained two 500GB drives and I set them up in RAID1 (mirrored). I removed the drives from the WB box and purchased an new USB external box. I installed the “B” drive in the box and I downloaded your program. I am attempting to recover the data from the “B” drive at this time.

    These drives were not used for boot-drives but simply for external storage. I get four entries as detailed below:

    Good Evening: I have a E-9220T with an “intel” motherboard and intel RAID + matrix manager configured as follows:

    SATA 0 – 80 GB HDD – non raid – operating system

    SATA 1 – NOT USED

    SATA 2 – 400 GB RAID
    SATA 3 – 400 GB RAID

    I have not used the machine for many months and turned it on and observed that all three disks are now “non raid”

    I am able to start the machine and boot up into the windows server however the two raid disks are not recognized in windows.

    I am able to enter into raid utility (Cntl I) – and the three physical drives are recognized and listed as “non raid drives”

    How do I re-create or re-initialize the raid array?

I installed each of the drives (one at a time) in the new box and, although I could see the hard drive and the partitions through device manager, my computer would not assign it a drive letter so I couldn’t access any of the information from the drives. Is there any way I can retrieve the information from these drives?

    Since I am still under warranty (barely), WD is sending me a replacement unit. Will these two drives work in the replacement unit?

    Any suggestions?

      This is a RAID device and the firmware within that device is specific to that raid. I am sure that Richard could help you but you would need to call in for him to get some answers to questions.

    I have a NAS device from Netgear and one of the droves failed and corrupted the other. I was wondering if your software would be able to help in this case. Drives were setup as mirrored drives (RAID 1) also they call it RAID X.
