Restore Deleted Emails In Outlook Express

Ok so this is a major issue that I run into all the time. Someone has a ton of emails they have accidentally deleted from inside their Outlook Express, or they are trying to get back emails someone else may have deleted maliciously. We actually have a really great piece of software what will recover deleted emails. I like our E-recovery for Outlook Express program, mainly because it works well, and is simple to use. Unlike other data recovery software options that can be very hit or miss, this particular type of recovery coupled with our program works really well, and has an enormously high recovery rate. So if you find yourself in this situation, he is what I recommend your next steps should be.

Deleted Emails In Outlook Express

Download our demo for E-Recovery and install it on your computer. It has a very easy to use install program and will allow you to run it from the start menu.

Once you are in the program you will see a screen that will have a list of your folders that you have in Outlook Express. They will be list like inbox.dbx, outbox.dbx and so on. Choose the folder you deleted the emails from and the deleted items folder because it is likely that the email will still exist in both places.

After this you can click the arrow button and it will begin to scan these folders for emails. You will get a list off all the emails it has found both deleted and not deleted. You can then go through this list and choose the emails you want to recover. Note : You will not be able to save the emails until you purchase the full version.

After you have saved the emails off you will be able to move them back into their rightful folder by selecting them and dragging them into Outlook Express. All of your attachments will be intact and your emails will be exactly as they were before deleted.

The one downside to this kind of recovery is that if you have Archived older emails those emails will not be able to be recovered. There is a chance that we may be able to do a logical recovery for you on archived data, but thus far we have been unable to make advances in getting into the archive file with software.

  1. I think every one should know that if you have lost email do not let outlook express compact your mail to save space. The will make recovery of lost email impossible. This is a tool for email that has been recently lost. It may not work for email that was deleted several months ago or years ago. I have used this tool many times succesfully. It is a very good tool a very easy to use work horse for recovery of lost email in OE that still resides on your hard drive.

  2. Will the email restore program be able to restore an email that was deleted 2 months ago?

    Thanks,
    Gary

This is more like a question. One of our clients server went down, if I wanted to obtain your software, will this help me to restore deleted emails from outlook?
Please advise? Also, how much would this software run me?

  4. Gary,
The best way to know if it sees the emails your looking for is to run the demo. Everything you see in the demo is what you will be able to recover with the full version.

  5. Excellent resource on exchange have been reading your posts

I deleted my Inbox instead of my Deleted Box. I delete my Deleted Box after every use so there are over 3,000 eBay files in my Deleted Box. All I want to do if I can’t redownload the files into my Inbox is get them into a New Folder for storage. My Spam Folder has already replicated. Whichever way involves the least amount of risk is the way I want to go. I have never archived my files I use private Domains with plenty of storage. I have compacted my files twice in the last month since I screwed up. What do you recommend? Same as above? How much is your software? The reason I ask, there is a software on the market guaranteed to fix your Outlook Express problems. The price – $150.00. Thank you, Jeff

    Jeff,

Here is the deal if you deleted emails out of your inbox in outlook express, and then removed them from the deleted item folder this is the situation E-Recovery was written for. What I would recommend is downloading the demo of the software and looking to see what emails it show can be recovered. It is a full functional demo except you can copy until you purchase the full version.

Outlook Express Data Recovery Software – E Recovery
The software is only 24.95, I am not sure about the company that is charging 150.00 it may be that they are trying to do a low level recovery on the dbx? There is a lot that they could mean but “fix your problems with outlook express”

  8. Jeff Smith says:

Thank you for your response Jacqui, What has actually happened is my Deleted Box was cleared of all deleted mail. Then I screwed up and deleted my Inbox to the Deleted Folder. It hasn’t been touched since. All the mail in the Deleted Box is 100% Inbox eBay files. I have not been emptying my Spam folder. (luckily I get very little spam in this account) My father had a massive heart attack 5 days ago and I’ve been spending nights in ICU and trying to work during the day. This is the first time I have been able to get back to you. Does this change anything? By the way they operated and on my father and also put in a pacemaker and he seems to be doing much better. Thank you for your time, Jeff

  9. That is wonderful news about you father, I hope everything works out.

As for your deleted emails I am still a little confused, was the Inbox folder actually deleted? Not Just the emails in it but the actual folder itself?

Hi Jacqui, Thank you for the kind words about my Father. Every day when he got up he would excercise with Dumb Bells amd calisthenics. Some days a 15 mile bicycle ride with my mother. He is improving rapidly at 80 years old. Back to my Computer. No the Inbox Folder was not deleted. Only the mail! So here is where I stand. I emptied my Inbox into a clean Deleted Folder. I want the files in the Deleted Folder put into my Inbox Folder. I can’t seem to download your software. On another site I checked and there are over 1700 files that will transfer into my Inbox. Then they hit you with the price of their software, $65.00. Plus no Customer Support. Can your Software help me? Can I download it? Thanks, Jacqui, Jeff

  11. Jeff Smith says:

Hi Jacqui, Thanks for the thoughts of my Father. He is improving rapidly. At 80 he is used to getting up and working out with Dumb Bells and then doing calisthenics. He and my Mom also go for 15 mile Bicycle rides at their shore house. Back to Outlook Express, No the Inbox Folder was not deleted, just the mail. Here is where I am: I deleted the mail in my Delete Folder. Then I screwed up and deleted the mail In my Inbox Folder. This is my eBay account. I need to take the emails in the Delete Folder and put them in my Inbox Folder. *

  12. Jeff,

You should be able to do that with E- Recovery for outlook express no probelm. What is happening when you try and download the demo?

  13. I am trying to undelete email that was in my Norton Antispam folder – which I deleted a few months ago. I’ve done some reading on this topic and have read that if you’ve compacted your email (as Outlook sometimes promts you to do) you will be unable to recover previously deleted emails. My question is – are they any products on the market that can get around this problem???

    Thanks

  14. i cannot open my OE deleted files basket – the computer tells me it is too full or there is not enough space, but at the same time indicates there are 70 unread messages. what can I do given I am a technical idiot

  15. The program seems to be unable to correctly recover attached .PDF files – Attachments will not open and display various error messages including “file damaged and could not be repaired,” there was a problem reading this document,” “file type not supported,” or “email attachment wasn’t correctly decoded.”

    Any ideas?

    – Terry

    Thanks,

I have done an email where it seems that the attachement is too large so its just sitting in Outbox of my Microsoft Outlook email.
Now I can not send anything else because its all in a line up waiting for the large one to go through!
How do I just delete the large one and be done with it??
I just really need to get done other things and I cant.

    • Lcumming,

You have to interrupt the send and receive process by clinking on it in the bottom of Outlook. Once it has stopped trying to send and receive you should be able to delete the big email. It might take as long as 30 minutes to allow all of that to happen, just hang in and give it a few.

  22. Hi. I deleted a couple emails from 2005 and now I need to retrieve them as evidence for a court case hearing (someone ripped me off and he’s being prosecuted for it). Is there anyway I can get those emails back once they have been deleted from my Outlook Express and from the Recycle Bin? Please answer asap…please. Thanks, Denise

I am trying to recover my deleted e mail i wave a dell they told me to sign in on my e mail and click recently deleted link. I cant fine that any were on my e mail page. Would it matter that i have Live.com. Thanks Mike

    • Mike,

If you are using their web applet to view and get your email then yes it would .. it would be stored on their email server (Microsoft) and not on yours.

  24. Help! deleted e-mails from MS Office Outlook 2007 by mistake. How can I recover them? The “incident” happened about four hours ago.

    Thank you for your assistance.

hi am facing problem in outlook express.Am unable to recieve large mails. What could be done for this.

  26. Outlook express froze up today & deleted all my emails from 2006 to present in my inbox
I guess I now know I should not have kept this many emails in my inbox
It left the emails from 2003 to 2006
Can the thousands of emails be recovered?
    Thanks

    • You may be able to retrieve them. The first place I would look would be in the recycle bin To see if it put a backup of your inbox in there generally when windows doesn’t the compression it makes a backup it stores in the recycle bin. The ore thing you can try is email recovery software we have a good one called e recovery for outlook express. Hope this helps and if that does not work you can always call me at our 800 number

      • Robert, England says:

Same problem exactly as Reece’s posting (October 8, 2010, replied to by Jacqui Best, October 18, 2010 3.47pm). All emails after mid-2009 in my Outlook Express 6 inbox disappeared suddenly. I have been careful not to . But when I run the demo version of your E-recovery software, it offers to recover only the pre-2009 messages which are still in the inbox anyway. And a small number, maybe 120, of deliberately deleted junk items. The number of lost files must be about 3,000. Will the full version of E-recovery, if I buy it, have more functionality to enable it to dig deeper, or is this all I’m likely to get back? Thanks.
PS: I have now (belatedly) backed up all .dbx folders.

        • Robert,

If you have ever “archived” the folders to make more room then the emails in question would be unrecoverable. The archiving process run by outlook express compresses the email like a zip but the compression is inside the actual dbx file. There is no way of knowing how much the files were compressed etc. I wish I had a better answer for you.

          Thanks
          Jacqui

  27. I downloaded your e-recovery for outlook express program to see if I can recover emails for a friend. I have all the dbx files. Since my machine is windows 7 and I don’t have outlook express installed on the machine I just have all the dbx files in a folder.

I set the “Start In” folder to the folder with the dbx files and it sees them (took a bit to figure that our since there is no way to browse to the outlook express files). However when I select the deleted folder and try to start a recovery I get an error “cannot backup the .dbx file” and the program will not go any further. Any clues?

    Thanks

    Mike
