From what. You have said I would guess the motor may be going. My hardware knowledge of the actual internal working parts of the hard dive is limited to what I need to know to do software support. I will tell you that any hard drive making weird noises is not a good sign and if you still have access tot he drive it may be best to get the data off and RMA the hard drive. </description>
