| Well I used the program
today. After formatting my hard drive I have managed to recover over
4 gigs of my old programs. Only a few didn't come back. I am very
happy thank you guys. You are awesome.
I gotta tell you, that this was the best damn $500 I ever spent.
You are a real life saver!!
I wanted to take a minute to offer sincere gratitude and praise
for the efforts of Brett Persson. In order for you to understand
the depths of this issue I must give you the supporting evidence
of my situation.
Recently I noticed a crack in the chassis of my Compaq 1400 laptop.
I called for warranty service, they sent me a box and said send
it in. This was two months ago. I did not send my laptop back to
Compaq because I was trying to come up with an alternate backup
solution. You see I am also a technologist and understand the risks
associated with sending my laptop to anyone let alone the manufacturer
for repairs. My backup method has always been Ghosting. It is the
best and only way to ensure a timely recovery in the event of a
disaster.
Here is the problem, the laptop I have is a legacy free unit. No
DOS drivers were ever written for the integrated NIC or the PCMCIA
slot, thus preventing me from using an alternate NIC to create a
network boot disk to run an image. Also the laptop has no serial
or parallel ports, all USB. As you know USB is not supported under
DOS. I am sure you probably have already figured out the issue but
just in case, there is absolutely NO WAY to recover from any data
loss and no way to copy data to an external media. Thus everything
is trapped within.
After struggling with this issue of not being able to create an
image I resigned myself to send it along with explicit instructions
not to touch the Hard Drive. Since the problem had absolutely NOTHING
to do with hardware and only a simple plastic piece for repair and
the assurances from Compaq that I was overreacting and guarantee
that everything would be just fine I sent it out. Mind you my trouble
ticket already had 3 incidents of me calling to make sure the instructions
not to touch the drive were clear.
During this time I went on vacation. I received an email from Compaq
asking me to call in. I did, they were requesting permission to
do a Quick Restore on my drive. At this point I knew I was in trouble.
I emphatically stated NO for the now fourth time. I was assured
that nothing had been done.
Well the result of this story is a no brainer ! I received my laptop
the day I came back from vacation, powered her up and No Operating
System was found. I was very angry. Then I realized that I had not
backed up my mail file. I had backed up everything but the most
critical piece, my mail. When I realized this I almost had a heart
attack.
I am a small business owner. My laptop is my lifeline. I have a
project due in 4 weeks and all the data is on my laptop. Without
my mail file I would be back peddling for at least a few weeks and
then some.
So since it appeared that the tech had simply deleted the partitions
but did not format. I had run another utility called Easy Restore
and determined the data was in fact recoverable but only if I could
copy it to another device. Not possible. I continued searching for
days for a product that would restore and was about to give up when
I did one last search on Alta Vista for "restore FAT32 partitions"
and you company popped up, along with many others.
I made a call into your office with a very scaled down explanation
of my needs and requirements expecting a NO. What I got was a resounding
yes. Whoever answered the phone patched me over to Brett Persson,
he explained your "Recover It All" product. I kept him
on the phone for quite some time, as I did not believe your product
could do what I needed. Since I was so suspicious and concerned
that being steered in the wrong direction, one mistake would further
damage the salvageable data, Brett suggested I download the demo
and run it to determine of in fact it was do-able. I did and it
looked like it was. I purchased the product and with much coaching
from Brett successfully restored my partitions, all two of them.
All of my data is intact and now completely backed up.
So why I am I writing a 2 page letter about this? Well over the
past 5 years I have seen many unskilled technical people enter the
realm of support, Devry degree in hand. 80% of corporate is hiring
these people. Why? Cheap labor. Unfortunately they will lose in
the end because, last time I checked customer satisfaction was still
an expectation consumers have. You get what you pay for. Brett Persson
was able to answer EVERY question to 100% satisfaction. I probably
would not have been so quick to purchase and use the product if
it had not been for Brett. I have spoken with many people this past
week that said their product could do the trick but after speaking
with additional technical people found out it was not the case.
It seems most companies cannot come to a consensus on what their
product is and is not capable of doing.
Bottom line, Brett is one of the great rare finds when it comes
to technologists. He knows his product and the ins and outs of hardware.
If anything ever happens to your company, he is welcome to come
and work for mine. I will now recommend your wonderful product into
our projects. Thanks to you and much gratitude to Brett.
Sincerely,
Dana Vizneau
